LOOKNorth’s initial five-year, $15 million suite of programs focuses on:

  • Sector Assessments: (principally petroleum, mining, hydro and transportation): identifying and assessing information needs and technology gaps by project phase (evaluation, permitting, exploration, development and transportation);
  • Outreach: facilitating information sharing amongst stakeholders in northern development (including industry, government, academia and aboriginal peoples) through workshops and forums, particularly on the applicability and use of monitoring technologies for data collection in support of decision-making;
  • Technology Validation: developing business cases and co-funding technology validation projects as a precursor to long-term implementation; and
  • Research & Development: guiding R&D and technology commercialization activity where gaps currently exist.
